Solar / Wind Inverter Duty Transformer

Engineered to withstand non-linear inverter harmonics, pulse-width modulation transients, and thermal stress in solar PV & wind energy installations up to 33 kV class.

Grid-Tied Renewable Solution

Utility-Grade Inverter Duty Transformers

Solar and Wind Inverter Duty Transformers (also known as Converter Duty Transformers) provide critical isolation and step-up voltage transformation between renewable power conversion equipment and the high-voltage utility grid. Unlike standard distribution units, these transformers operate under non-sinusoidal voltage profiles characterized by high harmonic content from IGBT-based inverters and variable environmental loading.

At Synergy Transformers, our engineering team custom-designs multi-winding secondary configurations (Dy11, Dy11y11, Dy11y11d11) with electrostatic grounding shields between primary and secondary windings. This prevents high-frequency common-mode noise and DC components from injecting into the grid, extending equipment life and maximizing power generation throughput.

Key Features for Renewable Power Operations

Engineered to prevent overheating, core saturation, and dielectric breakdown under continuous solar and wind cycling.

Reduced Current Density

Conductors are sized with conservative current densities to account for stray eddy current losses caused by high-order harmonics, preventing hot-spot temperature rise.

Low Core Flux Density

By designing core stacks with reduced magnetic flux density, our transformers avoid core saturation during inverter over-voltage transients and reduce no-load losses.

Electrostatic Shielding

A continuous copper electrostatic shield connected to ground is placed between primary and secondary windings to decouple capacitive noise and protect grid power quality.

30+ Years Design Life

Robust tank mechanical construction, vacuum pressure oil impregnation, and tropicalized anti-corrosive coatings guarantee dependable performance in harsh desert or offshore conditions.

Technical FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions by Overseas Buyers

Inverter duty transformers are specifically optimized to withstand non-sinusoidal voltage waveforms, high Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), and fast transient pulse-width modulation (PWM) switching from solar inverters or wind turbine converters. They feature electrostatic copper shielding between windings, lower magnetic flux density to limit core saturation, and enhanced thermal capacity to handle harmonic eddy currents without overheating.

We manufacture multi-winding secondary transformers including 3-winding (Dy11y11) and 4-winding (Dy11y11d11) configurations. This allows two, three, or four separate inverter outputs to connect into a single step-up transformer, significantly reducing site footprint, cabling complexity, and overall balance-of-plant costs for utility-scale solar farms.

Our solar and wind inverter duty transformers comply fully with IEC 60076 series, IS 2026, IEEE C57.18.10, and ANSI standards. Routine testing is performed on 100% of manufactured units in our ISO 9001 certified laboratory before dispatch.

Yes. Overseas EPC contractors, project consultants, and utility inspectors are welcome to witness routine, special, and type tests directly at our factory in Rajkot, India. Alternatively, we regularly host third-party inspection agencies such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV, and Intertek.
